This hybrid documentary short film tells the story of one of the most deadly COVID-19 outbreaks in California, taking place in its oldest and most notorious state prison.

Based entirely on phone interviews with two men incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison, this film features abstract re-creations of real events that demonstrate how the California Department of Corrections infected over 2/3 of the prison population in a matter of weeks. In their interviews, the two men explore their fears of dying in prison at the hands of a virus from which they cannot defend themselves, as well as the pre-existing conditions of the carceral state that make the prison population so vulnerable.
